Monday morning project complete!!

Here is the top for Charlotte's Quilt. Found enough scraps to make the 25th block. Borders to be added, but first, laundry, kitchen clean and also 2 Bee Blocks that need to go in the post tomorrow. I may also get a run in today- gotta get moving. Halo of course is test driving the comfort level of the Quilt to give it her furry seal of approval.

Australia Day Weekend Project

This week I've been die cutting 2.5" strips and sewing them together for a 16 patch quilt for my little friend Charlotte's 6th birthday. All but 2 fabrics are stash. I have some spare strip combos that I'm going to cut for sewing later. I die cut using a big shot. And the other day I learnt I could cut my 4 strips that are sewn together into strips meaning everything is accurate. You can see a couple of photos if this and a finished block below. I'll finish piecing the top this weekend and them put it aside to make some bee blocks and cut fabric for some swaps. Machine desperately needs a service.

Finally

Finally a project didn't escape Halo the cat and her vomit. Strips sewn for a 16 patch scrap quilt, now with a dressing of furball and regurgitated dry food. It was only a matter of time. At least this was the spare strips I'd put aside and not the main project. That's something to be glad of. Disappointment with the wedding quilt as not a mention of thanks has been received for the 100+ hours invested in that beautiful gift.

Operation Wedding Quilt Down to the Wire

And the race if officially on. After 16 hours at work yesterday I lost an evening of quilting. So it was back to the last bit today. I've quilted it- still waiting on official answer from aunty if I should do more. Below is some pictures of the final processes.
1) binding cut ready for pressing- I always make my own from WOF 2.5" strips pieced on the diagonal and pressed in half
2) binding pressed and rolled on a loo roll so it doesn't twist- there's nearly 8m there
3) still with the pins waiting to have binding put on
4) under the machine
5) little bit of impromptu there's plenty of time left border quilting
6) binding going on
7) first monogrammed label
8) Halo wishing it was hers
9) sewing on 24 feet of binding
10) binding blister because I find it hard to wear a thimble.
11) label going on

The Wedding Quilt - continued

It's project wedding quilt down to the wire. Last night I managed to puncture my nail with the needle. Next thing needle busted- amazing- not. Finger is ok. Quilting was continued. Should be finished tomorrow night so I can put on binding. Never again will I quilt a 6 ft square quilt again on my machine. Challenge done once and once enough. Looking forward to getting on with my January bee blocks and getting the machine in for a desperate service.

This weeks project - The Wedding Quilt

I Pieced this late last year in preparation for being able to quilt it after the Christmas extravaganza. We are now down to the last week and let's say - the wire, it's due on the gift table on Saturday.

Especially For Emily

I pieced this top from pink scraps years ago. I've since revived it from the stash and made it into a quilt for my little friend Emily who turns 3 today.
