About Me

My name is Briony. I live in South Australia, on the coast about 150m from the beach with my 10 year old cat Halo.

I was first taught patchwork in 2003 by my Aunty Anne who lives in Western Australia and I have been practicing ever since. I began sewing at a young age. Just little things on my blue Holly Hobbie sewing machine but honestly not sure if I actually produced anything. I then progressed to Janome machine which I did a bit of dressmaking on. It was a good little machine. Upon my return from a lengthy stay of about 12 years overseas in 2006,  I treated myself to a new machine - a Janome 6600p. To be honest, it is only this year, in 2012 that I have finally got comfy with the machine and have been able to adjust tensions etc. I put that down to one lady at Hetties Patchwork here in Adelaide. I asked her about how I can make the bottom and top stitching look when I sew. She said, if your bottom thread is funny it's your Top tension. If its your top thread that's funny, it's the bottom tension. It was that one piece of advice that has now made me very confident with my machine.
Other things abut me, I love Cardmaking and scrapbooking - though scrapping has taken a back seat since I've got sew happy with my machine. I love fabric. 
Lorraine who gets mentioned in about as many posts as Aunty Anne is a friend who lives in country NSW. First friends with Aunty and now also friends with me. 

I've run 2 marathons,  Paris in April 2012 and New York in Nov 2013. I trained for nearly a year for Paris and It took me 6 hours and 4 mins, but I finished. New York took me 5:56:12. I prefer half marathon distance. 
I love going to concerts. I've been to about 300 and counting. I often go and see bands overseas.

I am a travel agent....I used to love to travel and although I do still adore going places, I am a bit more selective and need a wow factor. I have a Top 6 cities: New York, Moscow, Rio, Tokyo, London, Paris.
